FEATURED SPEAKERS

Dave Cornell - Cultivating Courage in Your Job Search

Dave's powerful presentation on the need for all of us to be more courageous in both our personal and professional lives has received rave reviews from a wide variety of audiences. His style is engaging, humorous, emotional, and deeply personal.

The words most often used to Describe Dave's presentation are: genuine, real, authentic, and vulnerable.

In January of 2010, Dave lost his job.

Through this difficult experience he began his own journey of discovering the fears in his life that had been holding him back and the need to become more courageous to move forward.

Throughout his talk, Dave will share 3 key steps to becoming more courageous in your job search.

1. Name Your Fear - Losing your job can be a devastating experience as it was for
Dave. Often, a variety of fears come into play and yet those fears are rarely shared
with anyone. Dave shows why it's important to name your fear as a first step in a
    courageous job search.

2. Frame Your Fear - Our fears often drive us away from the very things we are wanting
in our lives. Dave provides tools for his listeners to begin to view their fears in a
whole new way that will allow them to get their fear to work for them rather than
    against them.

3. Tame Your Fear - Dave will provide you with simple, practical, actionable steps to
immediately put into practice in your job search.

Nathan Perez - The 20-Minute Networking Meeting

According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, 70% of all jobs are found through the people we know. And of course, the people we know make up our network. But did you know that at 80%, it's even more challenging for executives to find roles? Why? Because there are less leadership roles available in the whole business. This makes job search challenging for all of us. And this isn't the worst of it!

Combined with the fact that we increasingly use technology to "connect" to others, we are actually pulling ourselves away from one another. How? Because as we invest more time connecting with others through technology, we are spending less time connecting with others in person. And if networking is responsible for most jobs filled, we are walking further away from the one thing that actually gets us the job - networking

Nathan's engaging presentation will begin with a discussion of common fears and myths around professional networking, step-by-step instruction of how to open with a solid impression, how to ask and formulate relevant and informative questions as it pertains to your job search, how to expand your professional network, and how to incorporate all of this into a structured, 20-minute meeting

Later, the session becomes highly interactive and hands-on, including multiple exercises where you'll meet others in the group. These hands on exercises will provide you with a giant leap toward becoming more comfortable meeting strangers. You'll learn how to introduce yourself, how to engage others with thought-provoking questions, how to handle being a "third wheel," how to include others in a conversation, how to exit a conversation, and how to follow up.

Attendees will also receive a copy of Nathan's book, The 20-Minute Networking Meeting.

BREAKOUT SESSION SPEAKERS

Polly Meyer - Be the Most Memorable Person in the Room

Let's get real. Most personalities are on life support. In this world of limited attention, you have to understand what to do in order to stand out, engage, and influence others.

Imagine what your life would be like if you knew that the moment you entered a room, people would immediately take notice, want to hear what you have to say, and be eager to earn your approval. For people who demonstrate confidence and charisma, this is a way of life. Everyone is impacted by their presence.

If you're in transition with your career or starting a new company, first impressions matter. The potent elixir of confidence, charisma, and dynamic conversation can help individuals get noticed, feel more poised in social situations, and are viewed as more persuasive overall. Individuals who master their first impressions impact the world, whether they're starting new projects, new careers, or new empires.

You've got to be engaging and exude confidence, but you're legitimately out of your comfort zone. Part of you wants to be bold and step into the conversation, but another part of you wonders if you should hang back and play it safe inside your comfort zone.

But playing it safe won't get you noticed. Nor will it make you memorable.

In this interactive presentation, you'll learn to develop your charismatic edge and start getting noticed for all the right reasons. Make a powerful first impression - every single time.

Bob Voss - The 4 Focus Points of a Great Small Business Owner

Bob has helped over 1,000 people start successful small businesses. He knows if a small business owner can focus on just four simple things, they'll have the best chance of creating the business of their dreams. If a job seeker focuses on these same four areas, they will also have the best chance of landing the job of their dreams!

The four focus points are:

1) Start with a specific GOAL that can be broken down to smaller goals

2) Identify, as specifically as possible, the ideal TARGET CUSTOMER for the business
or the ideal COMPANY to work for.

3) Create a simple CAP (Customer Acquisition Plan for entrepreneurs, Career Acqui-)
sition Plan for job seekers) and work on the CAP on a daily basis.

4) EVALUATE how you did after each sale for your small business (or after each inter-
view for the job seeker). Based on the evaluation, you may have permission to ask
    for more!
