WELCOME WELLS CONCRETE SELECTION COMMITTEE MEMBER
We understand this can be a difficult time, our goal is to help you through it with knowledge, respect, and kindness. Almost all of us here at MJP have experienced a layoff. We bring real-world understanding and help to you during this transition. Our approach works: we have a strong record of exceeding the state's performance goals of getting a job, keeping that job, and earning high wages. In fact, our participants are earning almost $20,000/year over the State's standard on the wage measure of the current Minnesota Department of Employment & Economic Development's Program outcomes report.
We have created this page to keep you updated with important information during the early stages of the project; information about registration sessions, counselor meetings, workshops, and special events.
Everyone here at MJP is dedicated to supporting you in achieving your career goals. Our most important partner is YOU! We look forward to working with you.

SUPPORT YOU CAN COUNT ON
For many of us, experiencing a loss of income can cause a great deal of stress. How will I pay my bills? What if unemployment isn't enough to cover everything? What about health insurance? We are here to help!
A portion of each grant is set aside for support services; we are the only provider with family service advocates, professionals whose sole focus is helping you with the financial and emotional side of job loss.
Our family service advocates have a close relationship with a MNsure Navigator and Brokers who can help you complete the MNsure application and select a plan that will work for you & your needs. These professionals hold regular sessions on-site with us during open enrollment, and come facilitate special sessions for our clients who need it outside of open enrollment.
We can assist those in need with rent or mortgage payments, utility bills, car payments or repairs, and more. As a participant in our program, you are also eligible for three free mental health counseling sessions, and financial counseling sessions as well. Our advocates have over 20 years of experience in social services, are respectful, and incredibly knowledgeable about other services you may be eligible for. Whatever your concern, Minnesota Job Partners is here to support you with a caring team of professionals.
The first step is attending a registration session, the second step is completing a TABE if you have less than a Bachelor's Degree, and the third and final step is meeting with your counselor to complete your Individual Employment Plan.
Once you've completed these steps and submitted all required documentation, you are enrolled! Once enrolled, you are able to begin taking advantage of all the benefits the program has to offer: career counseling, workshop, career fair, and special event attendance, résumé development, funding for training (with approval from your counselor), financial support upon qualification, and more.

FIRST STEPS AFTER WE PARTNER TOGETHER
If allowed by Wells Concrete, we will work with the Selection & Planning Committee Members and HR to bring you on-site workshops. Our workshops have been developed by job search experts, and give you the tools you'll need to be successful in landing your next position.
Our workshops are for enrolled participants only. We will email all enrolled participants an invitation. If you did not receive an invitation and believe you should have, or if you wish to enroll, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org; we'll help you out!
If you aren't able to attend the on-site workshops, don't worry! We hold these workshops at our Minneapolis and Plymouth locations each month.
Now you know what LinkedIn is, and how to use it - but you're stuck when it comes to writing your profile! For many Midwesterners, it's against our nature to "toot our own horns." It's not uncommon to get stuck at this point! This small, hands-on workshop helps you write a profile that will get you noticed by highlighting your strengths and leveraging your connections to maximize your reach. We offer professional profile pictures during this workshop for those who are interested, so remember to dress for success!

YOUR INTERVIEW EDGE
Interviewing can be a stressful experience if you're not prepared. The key to feeling confident is practice, and knowing what to expect. When you know how to tell your career story, and what an interviewer really wants to know, you can navigate any tough questions an employer throws your way. Practice with your peers and work with a facilitator to perfect your responses and shore up any weak spots. Our interview skills workshop will provide you with the necessary tools to impress your interviewers and be remembered in the interview process.

TRANSITION: YOUR PATH FORWARD
Losing your job can be a very stressful and difficult experience. For many of us, much of our self-worth is tied to our employment. When we lose a job, we're losing much more than just our employment, we're losing a source of income, purpose, and our work family. It's a major disruptive life event, and can take a toll on our personal finances as well. This workshop will help you deal with both the emotional and financial fallout after a layoff. You'll walk away with tips for staying financially sound and emotionally solid.
