More often than not when I meet with individuals who are laid off, they are totally unaware of the many resources available to them. Today I’m going to discuss four of the top resources that may be available to you.
Ready for Success –Clients often tell me they have either gained or lost weight since being unemployed and have nothing that fits properly for a job interview. That’s where Ready for Success comes in. This program provides professional new and gently used clothing for both men and women at no cost to you. A personal shopper will help you select outfits for job interviews, employment and internships. Contact your Career Counselor for a referral to Ready for Success.
Fare For All – Utilizing this program is a great way to save money on groceries. There is no pre-registration required and no income guidelines! Fare For All is community supported and open to everyone. The more people who participate, the more savings passed on to customers. Fare For All buys fruits, vegetables, and frozen meat in bulk to save you up to 40% off grocery store prices. They select the best food from their shipments, pre-packaging it to give you the greatest deals! There are 39 locations throughout the metro area where you can access Fare For All. Ruby’s Pantry –This is another program offering great savings on food. For a $20 donation, you receive approximately $100 worth of food! Ruby’s Pantry holds Pop-Up Pantries in a number of locations across Minnesota and Wisconsin every month. Ruby’s Pantry is faith-based and is organized and hosted by a group of volunteers from a local church. A Pop-Up Pantry is held either at the church location or at a site easily accessible for guests.
This program also has no income or resident limits/requirements and you can attend a Pop-Up Pantry at any city/state location.

There is a $20 donation per food share.
We recommend you bring 2 boxes or totes with you to the Pop-Up Pantry.
When you arrive at a Pop-Up Pantry for the first time, you will need to register and sign in. This registration is simple and requires no documentation. After the first time attending, you will not need to register and will simply sign in. You will be provided a number and once your number is called, you will go through the line to receive your food share. Energy Assistance Program - Are you worried about paying winters heating bills? This program may be for you. The Energy Assistance Program (EAP) helps pay for home heating costs and furnace repairs for income-qualified households. You may apply for this program once between October 1, 2018 and May 31, 2019. This program is available to both homeowners and renters. Eligibility is based on the 3 most recent months of gross income.
