Responsibilities

  • Help job seekers identify their interests and abilities using assessment tools.

  • Motivate job seekers to create and pursue an employment plan.

  • Assist job seekers in developing both hard and soft skills.

  • Connect job seekers to skill-building workshops and job fairs.

  • Connect job seekers to short-term and long-term training opportunities.

  • Connect clients to financial support for tuition, childcare, transportation, food, shelter, etc.

  • Refer clients to health insurers and therapy providers, as needed.

  • Coach job seekers to overcome issues that could undermine their academic or career success.

  • Develop or improve résumés and cover letters.

  • Encourage job seekers during their job search.

  • Match each job seeker’s employment goals with current job openings.

  • Keep current with occupational trends and in-demand positions.

  • Track the progress of each program participant.

  • Perform outreach and other duties as assigned.

 

Skills

  • Ability to actively listen and build relationships.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.

  • Strong planning and organization with attention to detail.

  • Professional conduct, honesty, and integrity.

  • Proficient with Workforce One, the web-based client management application.

  • Proficient with Microsoft (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams) and Internet searches.

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in career counseling, social work, psychology, or similar field.

  • At least 2 years of experience working with dislocated workers.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in career counseling, social work, psychology, or similar field.

  • At least 2 years of experience working with dislocated workers.

Competitive Pay

Annual salary is $54,184.

Remote Work

Option to work from home 3 days a week, in the office 2 days a week.

 

Reporting

Career Counselors report to Employment Services Manager.
