Job transition may be overwhelming. It may also be filled with emotional anxiety and self-criticism. It is common to feel stuck.
As a career counselor when I ask clients to identify their strengths, most cannot. But discovering our strengths is how we gain self-confidence, self-esteem, and momentum.
Knowing your unique strengths and weaknesses is an important part of identifying which career options can maximize your satisfaction and success. It’s key to finding an occupation that’s a good fit.
Neglecting to incorporate strengths knowledge into your career planning and job search is a mistake. It can put you on a path toward failure rather than success. It can lead you to a job where you are disengaged rather than engaged.
Our Career Discovery Workshop is your ticket to a fulfilling career. A journey of self-insight, learning, and growth that is offered monthly over two days. The next workshop is Monday, March 22 and Friday, March 26 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Career seekers enrolled with Minnesota Job Partners can register at https://www.jobpartners.org/calendar.
Our workshop will empower you to name, claim, and aim your strengths. We use the Holland code and Gallup Clifton Strengths assessments. We will interpret your results and teach you to apply your strengths toward your job search, as well as your brand, résumé, and interviewing. Even if you have already done the assessments, you will gain value from this workshop. You will learn to maximize your strengths and minimize any weakness. In addition, you will learn how to identify the strengths of others and build effective teams with complementary strengths.
Here is some feedback from recent workshop participants:
“She was very helpful in assessing the outcomes. Interesting that she pointed out that my results were kind of rare and she rarely sees that combo. Interesting how it pegged me and my pros and cons.”
“Getting my full Strengths Finders report was a good move. I just went through a few ‘deep dive’ questions with Esther this morning and it was really helpful.”
“I like to continue to connect with the Gallup Clifton Strengths website to stay focused on my strengths and the strengths of others.”
Whether your experience in the workshop is an “Aha!” moment, or confirmation of what you already knew about yourself, participants come away with practical applications for naming, claiming, and aiming strengths in their job search.
